Om loved writing and saw that tech was going to be pervasive in the universe, and he wanted to write about it. Tech was also getting bad press, and Om could not understand why, he wanted to write good thing about tech.

Om says that sometimes around 2015 tech industry really blew up and it is now 10 or maybe even 20 times bigger than it was a decade ago. Much of our lives are now dependent on technology.

In fact, now during the covid19 pandemic, we can see that while the government is struggling to figure it out, private companies like Amazon are the ones delivering food and supplies to the citizens.

In a few decades, our lives will be completely dependent on tech, and that may be why some people are hating tech companies now, due to the sheer power they hold.

Om says that tech leaders need to understand this tremendous impact and to act accordingly.

Om says that Facebook executives do not understand their role in the society. They prioritize engagement above all while making decisions, which may increase Facebook revenue, but does not make the world any better.

Howard says that Twitter does not understand their users anymore. The platform encourages everyone to yell and fight, and at the end of the day, the only people left are the ones yelling and fighting.

Human behavior has been the same since day one - greed and fear. A good time to buy stocks is when other people are panicking. It's risky, but it might be a great time to find an opportunity that isn't obvious during the good times. Panic is a great time to clean up a portfolio and to figure out what is going to grow over the next decade.
