How Did Cogent Security Raise $53 Million in Five Days?

Vineet Edupuganti closed $53 million for Cogent from Greylock and Bain in less than one week. The first meeting and the signed term sheet came about five days apart.

The target list stayed narrow: experience in the domain, enterprise software, and AI, a good brand, and people who could push Cogent forward. He had known the folks at Bain for many years before starting Cogent. While the team stayed heads down building, he took no investor meetings and kept a healthy distance. Investors still tracked Cogent and already had a sense of what was going on. Earlier relationships smoothed the close.

Time at Abnormal was, without a doubt, part of getting Cogent funded.
