Shauna’s Bio

Shauna Armitage doesn’t have a rags to riches story nor can she claim to be an entrepreneur since childhood. She grew up wanting to be a teacher and had a secret passion for writing. After obtaining two Bachelor’s degrees in four years, she struggled to find work in the ailing economy of 2011 and turned to freelance writing. It didn’t take long for her to discover that her abilities as a writer were highly valued by marketers and only a year later, Shauna had taken a position as Director of Digital Content for an agency.

 

Wanting to create a more effective marketing solution for startups than the agency model, Shauna began stepping into the fractional marketing director role. Through her intensive approach, Shauna has helped her clients achieve results such as a 400% increase in website conversions and a 220% growth in sales. Shauna now has a certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurship from Cornell University and works with brands at all stages to produce impactful results.

Shauna’s Advice

 

I think marketing is so important for every company no matter what stage that you're at. The best thing that you can do is market before you're ready, because there's nothing worse than having your big launch or your big reveal and there's crickets because nobody knows that what you're doing exist.

 

So you always have to market before you're ready, you always need to market with an open mind. You should always be looking for help or feedback. That doesn't necessarily mean hiring a marketer like me. It could be reaching out to your community and asking for mentorship. It could be running market studies and asking random people in Facebook groups what they think about what you're doing. But when we ask questions, and we look for feedback, that's what makes us all continue to evolve and get better.
