Why Does an Unused Idea Find Another Maker?
David Senra reads Rick Rubin's claim from The Creative Act, in the section called tuning in: if you have an idea you are excited about and you do not bring it to life, it is not uncommon for the idea to find its voice through another maker. The other artists did not steal it. The idea's time has come.
John Mackey, the founder of Whole Foods, said the exact same thing in a multi-hour conversation. In the very early days of Whole Foods, the store was not his idea. People needed a healthier alternative to all the processed food they were eating, and a grocery store dedicated to natural foods. Mackey happened to be there at the very birth of the natural foods industry, while other people all across the country had the exact same idea.
