Why Doesn't Eiichiro Oda Create One Piece for the Whole World?

David Senra says Eiichiro Oda does not create One Piece for the whole world, because that is impossible and he does not try. He draws the manga he wanted to read as a child, and he assumes that if Japanese children enjoy it, everyone else will too.

Oda knew by age four that he wanted to be a manga artist. He was 22 when One Piece began, and at 51 the series is still going. He had to draw things that did not exist to get attention, because plenty of heroes already fought demons and saved the world and the market was saturated with that kind of story. Respecting the fans comes first, and he was a fan himself.

A weekly manga schedule cuts the time left to think about the story, and more time to think makes a better creation. Personal life and manga cannot be separated. Everything he does can connect to the series. When he runs into somebody, he immediately thinks about how to use the encounter in the manga.
