How Did Eight-year-old Andre Agassi Beat Jim Brown?
David Senra reads Andre Agassi's account of his father using his eight-year-old son as a tennis hustler. They went to the local courts and found Jim Brown, one of the greatest football players of all time. Agassi's father said his kid was going to beat him and that they should play for money. Brown already had a house, so the wager moved from the house to 10 grand and settled at 500. Agassi beat him 6-2. Brown counted out five crisp hundreds, handed them to Agassi's father, and shook Agassi's hand. Agassi's father said the boy was going to be number one in the world, and Brown said he would not bet against him.
Not long after, Agassi led his father 5-2 in a practice match and was serving for it. He had never beaten his father. His father looked as if he were about to lose much more than $10,000, walked off the court, and would not finish. He would rather sneak away than lose to his son.
