Do Golf Courses Use More Water Than Amazon Data Centers?

at 18:01

From the episode: Amazon CEO Andy Jassy on the $220 Billion AI Buildout

Answer

Andy Jassy says golf courses consume 200 times more water than all of Amazon's data centers, and more water in two days than those data centers use in a year. He puts almond farming in the same category.

He calls that water comparison one of the myths aimed at data centers, which he says have become an easy villain. On pollution, he says backup generators are registered as if they ran full time, but they run about 10 hours a year for maintenance.
