What Risk Does Ladybug Podcast See in Teaching Yourself to Code?
at 26:18
On New Career, Who Dis?, the Ladybug hosts compare self-directed learning with a bootcamp. One advantage they grant self-teaching is freedom from a structure that some people find stressful. The risk they dwell on is that nobody is checking the work. You can learn something completely wrong and never have a person to pull you back. A bootcamp, they say, gives you someone grading assignments, office hours, and a person to ask when a bug is too hard. That safety net is the point they want a self-taught student to keep in mind. The same stretch of the show is where they turn to which schools actually offer it.
