Why Does Anonymity Serve as a Cornerstone of Free Discourse Online?
Anonymity is really central to free speech online because age verification or ID verification laws would completely ban anonymity essentially. Banning anonymity would get rid of a thriving culture of people sort of pseudonymously or anonymously expressing opinions. Expressing opinions leads to a lot of really fruitful conversation and people sort of feel unfettered. People say crazy things when anonymous. Anonymity is kind of a cornerstone of free discourse online.
