Key Smash Notes In This Episode

Every problem is a leadership problem. Every issues is a leadership issue. You have to take complete responsibility and ownership over everything that's going on within your team and within your sphere of influence, and you need to teach your people to do the same things.

You can have ownership over anything, but you have to want it. You have to be the type of person that assumes responsibility, instead of looking to place blame, and to find excuses.

If you are a type of a leader that hates making mistakes, you might subconsciously default to blaming your team for faults when a mistake cannot be directly attributed to your own.

However, throwing your team under a bus is not a great leadership style. Being self-aware of your own habits and your defaults will help you to make better decisions and to treat people around you better.

You don't need to explain mistakes. Ownership is an objective measure, so if you've made a mistake, fix it. If you need help fixing it, then figure out a potential solution and talk to someone who can help you, but by all means, don't spend cycles simply complaining about it. No one needs to know. Fix it.
