On To Live and Die in LA, Adea Shabani's ex-boyfriend Ivan holds her phone data. He had a hacker break into her iCloud and pull her last text and WhatsApp messages. He shared one of the messages with the police. He did not share the full iCloud account or the full message logs with Jayden Brant, the private investigator hired by her family.
Neil Strauss says it is strange that an ex-boyfriend is the gatekeeper of her personal information. The message Ivan did share went to a friend from acting class, 48 minutes before Adea's phone shut off for good. She wrote, Baby, do you know where I can buy candles? Red ones?
