What Share of Google Searches End in AI Mode?

Ranjan Roy says the share of Google searches that end in AI mode jumped from 2% to 8.9%, and Google does not know how to monetize AI mode yet. Core search is still giant, but it will never be what it was before.

In one quarter, revenue is still up 25%, operating profit is still up 30%, and the operating margin is still holding around 30%. Google remains an incredibly profitable, incredibly fast-growing business, and overall queries are still increasing. Google has told the search industry that search is not dead because people are still searching. Google then said AI mode went from 2% of all searches to 8.9%, a dramatic rise. A business model for AI mode might still appear, but it will be a different business. The earnings report was a reminder that the core search business is not finished, yet it will never match the old version.
