How Did Tailscale and Raycast Make Cineplex Login Easy?

On the show, Tailscale installed on everything replaced a memorized home address with a network-friendly name that search can reach. An SSH command for a new machine searches the tailnet for a machine with that name. Cineplex, the Plex machine, now has a name on the tailnet, so SSHing into Cineplex is easy.

The operator used to give certain machines a set address and remember the home address because the subnet was familiar, for example dot one hundred, then place the machine by the last three digits in the network. He does not know the address for Cineplex. Raycast plugs into Tailscale, so when he needs an address he conjures the machine in Raycast, copies the address to the clipboard, and pastes it wherever the address belongs.

He does not have to remember anything or even look an address up. The address just comes to him.
