Back to #403 How Jensen Works, with David Senra.
What Is a Pilot in Command at Nvidia?
David Senra, reading Tae Kim's The Nvidia Way, says a pilot in command at Nvidia is the named leader Jensen Huang assigns at the start of every project. The pilot reports directly to Huang. Huang tells employees the ultimate boss is the mission itself.
When Huang talks about a project he wants a person's name. Nobody can hide behind a claim that a team is on it. The pilot in command is the one accountable. The same demand shows up in Senra's episode on how Elon Musk works: every requirement should name the person who made it, not a department.
Huang grouped people by function, such as sales, engineering, and operations, as one pool of talent rather than by business unit. The people already there can be pointed at a new mission.
