Back to #403 How Jensen Works, with David Senra.
What Is Jensen Huang's Top-five Email?
David Senra, reading Tae Kim's The Nvidia Way, says Jensen Huang's top-five email is how he gets unfiltered news from Nvidia's tens of thousands of employees. Huang asks people at every level to send the five things they are working on and what they have just seen: customer pain, competitors, technology, and delays.
The note he wants is five bullets, and the first word of each is an action such as finalize, build, or secure. Departments tag the subject line by topic so a search can pull recent mail, including on hyperscaler accounts. He reads about 100 of these emails a day. The Wall Street Journal has described employees sending these top-five notes for decades, and Huang reading them.
Strong signals are easy. Huang wants the weak ones, before layers of management have smoothed them, and he wants them from the edge. Strategy is what people do, so he has to see the work itself.
