What Did Miguel Rivera Do at Helion?

Miguel Rivera was the welder for Helion Energy, where the team built fusion generators, and he ran their fabrication shop for more than a year before becoming Starcloud's engineering operations lead.

Before Helion he spent a decade in the U.S. Army, deploying overseas, then worked in fab shops doing architectural and structural welding. He wanted a different way of contributing and got into fabrication after Mike Rowe, on Dirty Jobs, said the United States needs welders and people who build with their hands. At Starcloud he still does traditional welding alongside laser welding. The shop can fabricate out of steel, aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel, and it is set up so a visitor can run MIG beads. He calls the work rewarding, satisfying, and a little addicting.
