Back to Building what's next (Interview).
What Kind of Company Is Resend?
Zeno Rocha says Resend is a utility company. The team started out thinking they were building a developer tools company. The first time the service went down, the difference was obvious: people expect an answer every time, the way a light switch is supposed to turn on.
They still spend time making the website look good, including the Rubik's cube, and they try to keep the dashboard fast, along with the SDKs, the CLI, and the MCP. None of that matters if email misses the primary inbox or the servers are down. A marketing email can slip. A login email cannot. When users cannot sign in, the team has to jump immediately. Customers ask where Resend went.
A success team of five people is spread across regions, with people in New Zealand and South Africa. The company is a team of 45. The energy goes into a solid foundation so the service is there when someone flips the switch.
