Will AI Make Passwords Useless?

at 0:20

From the episode: #2570 - Mystery Boys

Answer

Passwords will be useless, Joe Rogan says, once AI figures out the code of everything that exists. Encryption is going to be gone. There will be no more passwords. Money is online, so the fallout is going to get very squirrely.

The password claim follows a warning about a website security flaw. Joe Rogan says the problem is out of his league and thinks the flaw has existed for 14 years. He links it to PHP, certificates, and some ability to counterfeit websites. A person goes into a website and the site does some kind of check. He calls the flaw massive. Warnings were popping up yesterday online from a bunch of Twitter accounts, including the FBI Cyber Division. The FBI post says two critical vulnerabilities have been identified in PHP, a widely used programming language that powers websites and web applications. The post says the vulnerabilities could allow malicious cyber actors to remotely execute code and compromise sensitive data and networks. The FBI urges organizations to take steps.

After the list of steps, Joe Rogan says AI is eventually going to figure out the code of everything that exists. Encryption is going to be gone, passwords will be useless, and money being online is why the situation gets very squirrely.
