Why Won't AI Match a Group of Animators?

Answer
Duncan Trussell says one person or two people using AI will not do the same thing as a huge group of talented artists working together. He says the animation is good because a group mind of human brains formed, not because of any one person.
Netflix let them do the work in-house at Titmouse, so they did not have to ship animation out. Problems were dealt with in real time. A group mind using AI could produce images much more easily, but it would still miss artists with thick French accents spending weeks dialing in an exact look, and it would miss animators going insane. They tried a Groundhog Day episode, and the human struggle produced sparks that ended up in the process. He is not against AI. He thinks it could speed up technical parts of production, such as in-betweens.
He says a group of people focused on one thing also needs room for every idea. Anyone who had an idea could bring it in, nobody felt intimidated, and that openness made the series.
