What Does Tim Ferriss Ask Podcast Guests?
Tim Ferriss would ask a guest what they are most excited about and what they are doing about it, or what keeps them up at night and what they are doing about it. He wants the actions someone is taking, or what they are considering doing, with the excitement or with the concern and the worry.
If the podcast allowed only one question, the first question he came up with was what are you most excited about and why. The follow-up, if he had one, would be what keeps you up at night and why. He revised both. He does not want high-concept abstract discussions, and the change relates back to an earlier question about action. He is cheating a little: either question could stand as the single question as long as follow-ups are allowed, and he thinks the exchange would be fruitful. So rather than what are you most excited about and why, he would ask what are you most excited about and what are you doing about it. The same revision turns the night question into what keeps you up at night and what are you doing about it. He is more interested in when the rubber hits the road.
