What Does Investing 10 Times More in Health and Relationships Look Like?
Tim Ferriss borrows a heuristic from Ramit Sethi and is trying to invest 10 times more in health and 10 times more in relationships. Sethi asks people what it would look like to invest 10 times more in one or two areas that matter most. Over-investing in health and relationships crowds out much of a no-longer-optimized list.
Sethi is better known as a finance guru and has a podcast where he interviews couples about money problems. The line is a paraphrase, because the exact wording is hard to remember. Ultra frugality and foregoing lattes are not the focus. Even without an immediate answer, the question forces a different look at life, like a Peter Thiel question. Health and relationships are the two big areas. Investing 10 times more in health and 10 times more in relationships leaves little time left over, and the shortage is a good thing.
Less free-roaming time remains to burn on wasteful activities that might have a veneer of productivity. The highest-leverage approach found so far is a more-to-do 10 times list as opposed to a not-to-optimize list.
