Which American Car Companies Never Went Bankrupt?

David Senra, reading Elon Musk, says the number of American car companies that have not gone bankrupt is two, Ford and Tesla. Tesla should not have worked. Starting a car company is idiotic.

Raising money for a startup electric car company in 2008 was difficult while GM was going bankrupt. The investors who were found said they would invest as much as Musk put in, so he put in everything he had left, literally everything. There was no house. He was staying in a friend's spare bedroom. Tesla did not look appealing. There was no DOE loan. The car had a negative gross margin. The largest shareholder was pissed off and going AWOL. It was ugly.

Musk is grateful for the investors who stood up then, when the company looked terrible.
