How Did Aline Lerner Learn the Hiring Industry Before Interviewing.io?

at 24:17

From the episode: #099 – Overcoming Fear and Paralysis to Build an Industry-Changing Business with Aline Lerner of Interviewing.io

Answer

On the Indie Hackers Podcast, Aline Lerner tells Courtland she wanted to be among the best at whatever she did, and she knew she would never be a great programmer because she did not love the craft enough. She did not quit engineering right away. She moonlighted as a recruiter after watching agencies fill roles at her company and learning what contingency recruiters were paid, about 15 to 20 percent of a first-year salary. She tried making hires for friends' startups. One of them, TrialPay, gave her the title head of technical recruiting even though she had never been a recruiter. She says hiring looked easy until she was inside it.
