Why Did Gavin Newsom Veto the California Homeless Audit?

at 1:52:09

From the episode: #2565 - Michael Douglas

Answer

Joe Rogan says California spent $24 billion on the homeless, and Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill to audit where the money went. Rogan says a lot of the homeless money probably went to NGOs, just as fire money from the Pacific Palisades fire was distributed to like 100 different NGOs. The fire money was supposed to go to the people who were losing their houses.

Joe Rogan says people raised the money and had goodwill because they thought it would help people who were barely paying their mortgages, lived in a great neighborhood, and then lost everything. None of the money went to them. He says the outcome disturbs people, and it should. He also says the outrage does not dismiss or condone corruption in the military-industrial complex, which he calls a gigantic problem.

Michael Douglas tells Joe Rogan he concurs, but he cannot believe the NGO money comes close to corruption in the military-industrial complex. Michael Douglas says the homeless spending should be monitored more carefully. Joe Rogan agrees, state by state. They add that the Pentagon has never passed an audit.
