Can a Marriage Exist Without Doubt?

Jordan B. Peterson says being sure at first, then doubting after months or years, is life, and a marriage cannot exist without doubt. The first step is to ask the woman in the relationship, because she will know. Nobody goes through even a day without, for a moment, doubting everything they think, say, and do.

Even an extraordinarily well put together marriage has periods of extreme doubt, almost independent of the quality of the marriage. One problem of being married is sharing the same boat. Now and then the boat is in very stormy seas. Both people can row like mad and still be in danger of capsizing. Together they will meet things in life that would make anyone doubtful.

When the marriage was constituted properly and the vows are real, each person can rely on the other to do their best while rowing, locked arm in arm.
