Back to The Professor Bringing Sanity Back To Elite Campuses | KMP Ep.55, with Gad Saad.
How Do Civilizations Die?
Gad Saad says civilizations do not die by murder. They die by suicide. The form of suicide the West has chosen is pathological empathy.
Katie Miller asked about the decay of civilization and whether Rome fits. Gad Saad said Rome certainly does, then widened the claim. In the first chapter of Suicidal Empathy, he cites Arnold Toynbee, an eminent British historian who had done a 12-volume study of why civilizations eventually perish. Toynbee came up with a maxim. Gad Saad says the maxim is very relevant to the topic of the book. The maxim is that civilizations do not die by murder. They die by suicide.
Gad Saad argues that the suicidal manifestation the West has chosen runs through pathological empathy. The West, on his account, is not being murdered from outside. It is destroying itself.
