Back to The Professor Bringing Sanity Back To Elite Campuses | KMP Ep.55, with Gad Saad.
What Does Gad Saad Call Siding With Lindsay Clancy?
Gad Saad says siding with Lindsay Clancy is suicidal empathy. He defines it as empathy hyperactivated in the wrong situations and aimed at the wrong targets. People sent all of their empathy to the one who killed the three children instead of to the three dead children.
He calls the reaction grotesque. A man who killed children can be shown facing a death penalty, but with the woman the story became her hormones and her postpartum, as if she had no personal agency. Gad Saad links the excuse to blank slate felons. The blank slate view says people are born tabula rasa, an empty mind, and only socialization makes them who they are. A felon of color born in a white supremacist society like the United States has, in his account, already been existentially punished, so expecting personal agency looks like a failure of empathy. Kindness then means another chance, and by another chance he means a 197th chance. The same move, he says, treats the killing as her hormones and her postpartum and asks people to be kind and accepting.
Katie Miller had asked why so many women took Lindsay's side. Gad Saad says he has not checked whether men get higher jail and prison sentences than women for murdering young children, but he suspects the numbers match the pattern. Katie Miller ties the rush to Lindsay Clancy's side to short-form media, including TikTok and Instagram.
