Why Eat Starches After Hard Weight Training?
Andrew Huberman says hard weight training means you need to replenish glycogen, and ingesting some starches afterward is a good idea. People say the session did not deplete all the glycogen. Post-training starches stay worth eating.
After leg day the meal was banana, blueberry, a couple of scoops of whey protein, oatmeal, and sourdough toast with butter and salt. Butter on food calls for salt too. Maybe three hours later, the normal lunch was grilled steak, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, and rice. Fish is off the usual menu unless it is ahi tuna, which is hard to come by most days.
Fiber still belongs in the diet, and many people get gastric distress from certain fibrous foods. Broccoli leaves him feeling kind of not well and does not digest well no matter how much he chews it. Onions generate histamines, and some people do not feel good after certain foods. A short trial of single-ingredient foods, with olive oil or butter, shows what works. Sandwiches, stews, pizzas, souffles, and lasagnas hide which ingredient feels good and which one does not.
