How Many People Were Downloading Courtland Allen's Indie Hackers Podcast?
Courtland Allen told the Record Edit Podcast that Indie Hackers averaged about 40,000 downloads an episode within 60 days of release. He started the show in February 2017. Downloads rose when he published on schedule and fell when he skipped episodes, then caught up once he recorded again. The step up came when the show went from one episode a week to two. Monday stayed an hour with a founder making hundreds of thousands or millions a year. Friday's Quick Chat was half an hour with someone from the community, often making little money, and faster to produce. Full episodes still drew about 50 percent more downloads than the Quick Chats.
