How Is AI Different From Crypto in Daily Life?

Kevin Roose stopped doubting the transformative potential of AI products because he uses them, and that daily use never happened with crypto. He used to worry he was being duped. He was never a crypto booster. He thought crypto was interesting and that people should take it seriously.

He still wants broader awareness, because crypto people run the country now and are doing scams and frauds that only insiders understand. He sold an NFT as a stunt to learn by doing the thing, not as a claim that NFTs would be the future of ownership. With AI he likes the tools and uses them all the time, not to write, while starting a company. Crypto was a way to speculate, not a vital part of daily life. Using the tools and seeing how impressive they are is what ended the doubt about whether the technology is real.

He still buys the skepticism about the financial models of the companies and the economic impacts. A lot of the companies are wrong, or at least could be wrong, about the impact of AI on jobs. Calling the technology uninteresting or not transformative means a person has not spent time with the models.
