Back to Anthropic S-1 Shocker, Greatest Business Ever? Google's $500B Wipeout, Midterm Predictions.

What Is Anthropic's Biggest Risk?

Chamath Palihapitiya says Ant's biggest risk is compute, and the biggest piece of that problem is data centers, then the financing commitments, then power. Ant is already on the forward foot and knows the binding constraint.

The risk list runs in a clear order. Inside compute they talk about data centers, power, chips, the grid, electricity, and hardware. Regulation comes second: government policy, sanctions, and export controls. Next are zero data retention, privacy and IP, then AI safety, then making money, then competitors, then governance. Customer traction rarely gets a mention. Employees leaving is not a serious fear, because walking away from the inside would be a mistake. Taxes do not rank either.

Ant stands for the whole AI complex: the business is about data centers, and data centers are about power. A Democrat who wants a recession going into 28 should slow power and slow data centers. A Republican who wants the best chance of winning in 28 has to get power, electricity, and data centers right.
