Why Does Peter Thiel Talk About the Antichrist?
Peter Thiel talks about the Antichrist because the religious wording keeps one world government from winning without any questions. The phrase also got people's attention. There are probably ways to describe the same ideas in philosophical or more neutral, less religious language.
After 1945, the Federation of Atomic Scientists put out a short film, One World or None, showing a nuclear bomb blowing up the world. The political formulation is one world or none. Antichrist or Armageddon is a very similar question: one world authority versus Armageddon. One world or none, without asking any questions, signs people straight up for one world government. It looks clearly better, so there is no debate and no thinking it through at all.
Reframed as Antichrist or Armageddon, the point is not to be fatalistic. Both are equally bad, and the task is to avoid both. Existential risks are serious, and so is the risk of a totalitarian one-world state. Antichrist or Armageddon pushes toward a moderate third way. One world or none pushes toward an immoderately powerful UN.
