What Happened to Summer in Europe After Krakatoa?
Jimmy Carr and Joe Rogan use Krakatoa when the talk turns from impacts to the environment. The claim is that Europe had no summer the year after the eruption. The blast was so large that particles rose into the stratosphere and above it, reflected light, and the Earth cooled by about two degrees.
The year is asked out loud. The reply is a guess, 1883, with the aside that the other person will know. The missing summer was noticed in Europe. They guess there was probably no summer in the rest of the world either, but it was not measured anywhere else. Mass starvation followed the cooling, and civil unrest came with it as people fell apart.
