Why Do AI Agents Need Pages That Search Engines Never Crawled?
Parag Agrawal says AI agents need pages a normal search engine never indexed, because a lot of public content was never built for ten blue links. He uses the older name, the deep web, for material that is extraordinarily hard to reach. Often there is no URL for the document. A person has to arrive at a portal and then navigate or search. Crawling it was hard, and it was less valuable to a search engine that needed to send a human to the page.
An agent's job is to put the content in the model's context window. Parallel built crawlers for sources search engines historically skipped. Harvey, a customer Parallel has partnered with, wants each answer grounded in an authoritative public document. That takes coverage of hard-to-reach public material and ranking strong enough that the product is not spending its own tokens on a weak lookup. He says Harvey uses Parallel's search so the product knows what is out there, with fresh data and with sources that are difficult to reach.
