Why Does the AI Job-loss Story Stop People Handing Work Over?

Molly Graham says people will not hand their work to AI while a loud story says jobs are disappearing and nothing waits on the other side. Her message was always that people give work away because the only way to make space for new opportunity is by giving work away. Two assumptions sit under it: giving work away is good, and new opportunity is waiting.

The fear story she keeps hearing in Glue Club says jobs are going away because of AI and layoffs get branded as AI. Media companies add that there is nothing on the other side, and that everyone needs universal basic income from the state because no one will have a job in 10 years. She calls the story crazy. It will not support a stance of delegating everything to robots, handing over thinking and data, and expecting new opportunity to follow.

She has been in technology for almost 20 years and calls the moment the mobile phone on steroids, when all sorts of businesses are going to be created. She believes a lot of jobs are going to be created because of the technology. People can lean in once they can say it is great to automate hated tasks and spend more time on work they love and work they are great at. While the story says no one will have a job in 10 years, no one wants to give Legos to robots.
