How Does Andrew Huberman Feel on Seven Hours of Sleep?

Andrew Huberman feels great on seven hours of sleep. Eight hours probably puts him into the day a little groggy. Six hours he can manage just fine. Five hours for one day, or a sleepless night, leaves him good. Two nights of four hours down to zero hours of sleep leaves him cratered.

Convincing yourself that four or five hours is enough, just because someone else only needs four or five hours, is ridiculous. An honest self-assessment covers how much sleep a person actually needs to perform well, and what they can get by on when they cannot get that amount. He hopes people ask, at their age, with or without kids, and at their stage of company or career, how much sleep they need in order to feel awesome, good enough, or not enough. Most people already know the answer, and he thinks most people follow a similar pattern.

What has changed is the arrival of effective, healthy ways to build energy back up. Sleep still has to happen.
