Why Does the AI Agent Pace Feel Unsustainable?
David Heinemeier Hansson says the last three months have felt more exhausting than any other project in the last five years, and the pace is not sustainable at all. He can see the end of the tunnel.
Everyone is building a little gas town, a private agent-coordination setup. The coordination problem is going to be solved, so programmers will not all keep building their own coordination harnesses. He is surprised the work has lasted so long without the major labs pulling more of it in. When JavaScript came into its own power, a new JavaScript framework showed up about every five minutes. The churn is what happens at the start of a new paradigm, and the field is going to settle down.
He welcomes the sprint. Most time is calm, and occasionally you have to climb a mountain.
