What Is Bill Gates's Fix for Unsafe AI?

Bill Gates says the only solution is for government to reach out to the industry for expertise and make sure every model maintains safeguards so the model cannot be used in a bad way.

The definition of AGI is not important for the safety issues. The issue is whether a tool has been created that could shut down banks or electricity grids, and there is a business model for cyber attacks. The word consciousness does not enter into that problem. The word AGI does not enter into it at all. What remains is a huge safety problem. Multiple competing firms are why government has to get expertise from the industry and still require safeguards on every model.
