What Has Adam Mosseri Learned About What Works?
Adam Mosseri says one of the most acute things he has learned is that what works today might not work in six months. He thinks his Friday ask me anything has run for seven or eight years, and it is consistently the post he gets the most positive feedback on. Almost nothing about it has changed. He started it seven and a half years ago, and about seven years ago he switched from taking a picture of his face and writing the answer to just saying the answer.
Creator spotlights are the idea he has had to rebuild. He used to post them as a story, and the story version stopped doing well. A green screen, with a video of the person's profile behind him while he called out what was rad about them, did really well for a month and then tanked. For the last year he has used a carousel. He asks the creator to send a selfie and tells them he would love to highlight them. Sometimes most people say yes. He then asks what content they would like him to highlight, they send a bunch, and he picks five or so.
The aim stayed the same: give up and coming smaller creators their flowers. He has done the spotlight in three or four formats over seven years. He thinks he is forgetting one of the formats, and one stretch left him asking why a version had stopped working.
